Work Has Already Begun in 2021: There’s Plenty to Be Excited About!
The Harris County Democratic Party team believes in organizing 365 days a year and is hitting the ground running in 2021. We recognize in order to protect our democracy we need to organize people, equip our volunteers with the tools to be savvy activists and make sure that every citizen is registered to vote.

Over the next couple months, we look forward to sharing our work with you, which includes:
- Completing the annual post-election, third-party audit of all of our 2020 electoral programs. (We do this every election cycle to make sure we learn from the previous election cycle and run even better programs moving forward);
- Meeting with our ally organizations to debrief, strengthen our relationships and continue working together for a stronger Harris County;
- Scheduling training classes for volunteers, precinct chairs and candidates; and
- Developing safe and effective voter registration plans.
Hear from Palwasha Sharwani, Our Full-Time Elections Director!
Palwasha is committed to protecting democracy by recruiting and training election workers year round. Her recent blog discusses the events of January 6th, the change that has started — but needs continued commitment and support from Democrats — and the next steps we can take to remove from office the treasonous Republicans representing Harris County in Washington. Contact Palwasha at Palwasha@HarrisDemocrats.com.
Houston Food Bank: MLK / Inauguration Food Drive
This year for Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the HCDP recognizes the public service efforts of our team and leaders throughout the community. As we commemorate MLK Jr., we look forward to the positive changes our Democratic Party will bring to the community and the nation in 2021 — and in the years to come. Join us in raising funds for the Houston Food Bank to help those in need during this never-ending pandemic from January 15th through January 22nd. Click here to learn how to get involved!

Presidential Inauguration Live Stream: Be a Part of the Host Committee

Become a part of the historic Biden-Harris Inauguration event by adding your name to the host committee for Livestream. On January 20, 2021, the country will take a big step forward in restoring our values and democracy. Here at the Harris County Democratic Party, we are proud to have worked tirelessly every day for the past four years to ensure the 46th President of the United States would be a Democrat. To celebrate, we are hosting a livestream and would like to include you. It is a super easy way to support the party. Your logo would appear on screen during the watch party.
Add your name to the host committee!
We’re inviting YOU to submit a video to include in our livestream. In 15 seconds or less, send a congratulatory message, tell us how you worked to make sure President-Elect Joe Biden and Vice President-Elect Kamala Harris were elected, tell us what this moment means to you, or anything else that you might want to share in our livestream. Videos will be selected based on the content of the message as well as length. Follow us over the next few days for the link to our livestream and to watch your video.
Submit your 15-second video here!
HCDP Precinct Chair Training: January 21st & January 23rd

Team HCDP is jumping into things early to expand the electorate and provide grassroots training to beat Texas Republicans in 2022! Join us for a Precinct Chair Orientation either on Thursday, January 21st at 6:00 pm or Saturday, January 23rd at 12:00 pm.
We'll cover how to organize your precinct through 2021, share best practices for new precinct chairs/captains (or those who may want a refresher), and learn about the resources availble to Precinct Chairs/Captains.
Date a Dem: Show Your Love for the Democratic Party

Support the Harris County Democratic Party by making a donation and winning a “date” with a Democrat! Participants will have the opportunity to support the party and win a 45-minute virtual dinner date with their favorite Democrat. We’re auctioning off desserts prepared by Judges Tanya Garrison & Dollinger as well. Ticket entry is $10.
In Loving Memory of Wes Hart

The team at the Harris County Democratic Party wants to extend our condolences to the friends, family and loved ones of one of our greatest party members, Wes Hart. He was a wonderful husband, friend, activist, and proud Democrat. In and out of the party, Wes did so much to help get candidates elected.
He served as the former State Democratic Executive Committee Member for Senate District 15, former HCDP Precinct Chair, Oak Forest Area Democrats President, and Secretary for HCDP Clubs and Orgs Committee.
But Wes was more than just a party member. He was an inspiration.
Rest in power, Wes.
