Join HCDP for a Special Block-Walking Event to Combat GOP Disinformation
Those “Trump Freedom Rally” billboards peppering our highways demand ACTION!
Former president Donald Trump will join Trump Jr. and his friends this weekend in Houston, and we KNOW they don't represent our values as Texans. Join us Saturday, January 29, for community conversations in Harris County. Help fight the legacy of lies being spread by members of the GOP! Let’s take back Texas!
Make Note of These Important Election Dates
The 2022 Democratic Primary will be here in no time. Are you ready? Make note of these important dates!
⭐ First up is the Jan. 31 deadline to register to vote.
💙 You can support HCDP's efforts to register & educate voters:
New ID Requirements Leading to Rejection of Some Mail-In Ballot Applications
Help spread the word: Texas has new ID requirements for mail-in-voting applications. We can't let GOP-sponsored, voter-suppression tactics keep eligible voters from casting ballots. Make sure your application includes all of the now-required information.
President Biden Celebrates One Year in Office
The Harris County Democratic Party thanks President Biden for a productive first year in office. We are looking forward to more progressive change in 2022!
Reminder: Jan. 31 Deadline to Register to Vote in the Primary
“Eligible Texans can register to vote by submitting a paper application to the voter registrar’s office in their county, by mail or in person. Applications sent by mail must be postmarked by the Jan. 31 voter registration deadline.”
Vote-by-Mail Applications Due Feb. 18
The last day to apply for a ballot by mail is Feb. 18. There's still time to apply to vote by mail, if you qualify.
Note: Texas has new ID requirements for mail-in-voting applications. Make sure to provide BOTH your State ID # AND the last 4 digits of SSN on your application.
Gearing Up for Sign Fest
Save the Date for Sign Fest 2022, a candidate campaign sign and literature drop event!
The contact-free, drive-through party will take place in the HCDP parking lot on Saturday, Feb. 12, from 10 AM to 2 PM.
Hope to see you there!
SD-17 Send-Off Party Now Feb. 21
Join the Texas SD 17 Democrats and the Bayou Blue Democrats for an SD17 Send-Off on Monday, Feb. 21, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Maggiano's Little Italy-Houston Galleria (2019 Post Oak).
Help say goodbye to the old Senate District 17 as the new precinct maps are adopted.
HCDP Volunteer Opportunities

For Our Precinct Chairs
Applications for Place on the Primary Ballot Due by Feb. 12
All current precinct chairs or anyone who would like to become a precinct chair must file an “Application for a Place on the General Primary Ballot for a Precinct or County Chair” by 6:00 pm on February 12, 2022.
**Due to COVID, HCDP is not open to the public.
With that change, please review the process to complete and submit an application.
Common Mistakes to Avoid on Ballot Applications
Check out these common errors that prevent Precinct Chair ballot applications from being accepted:
- The top line should read, "Application for Precinct Chair on the Democratic Party General Primary Ballot.
- We need to know how you'd like your name on the ballot - please include that in the appropriate field
- You must fill in an occupation. "Retired" is perfectly acceptable.
- Don't forget that your name must be entered twice in the oath section - there are two separate spaces for your name in addition to your signature.
- Please include your precinct number in the oath in the 4th line down so that it says, "being a candidate for the office of Precinct Chair of Precinct 001" (or whatever is the correct precinct number for you.)
- All Applications are due by February 12, 2022. Please email completed, notarized forms to firstname.lastname@example.org.
