Texas Heat is No Match for Democratic Organizers

This Summer, HCDP is working to beat the heat AND the Republican nonsense!
As we head into the hotter months, there will be more opportunities to get involved with HCDP, and it’s important that we all help facilitate progress safely!
Remember:
- Drink lots of water
- Wear and frequently reapply sunscreen with a high SPF
- Dress for the occasion by wearing hats and lightweight, breathable clothing
- Listen to your body! If the heat is making you feel woozy, take a seat and drink some water. You should let the blockwalk/event organizer know how you feel, and head home, if necessary. Remember, we can always go back and finish a blockwalk; safety is the most important thing!
- And, of course, make sure to have fun!
Your efforts will directly benefit Democratic progress in Harris County. You’re also among friends here. So, let’s have a blast keeping Harris County Decidedly Blue!!!
HCDP is Set to Parade Our Pride on July 25!

HCDP will be marching in the Houston Pride Parade on Saturday, June 25, from 7 to 9:30 PM.
The parade is part of the day-long 44th annual Houston LGBT+ Pride Celebration downtown at Houston City Hall, 901 Bagby St. This is Houston’s Premiere Event of the Pride Season.
Join community leaders, elected officials, candidates, and neighbors in coming together and celebrating the LGBTQIA+ community in Harris County.

The World is Watching: The Jan. 6 Hearings

The House committee investigating the events leading up to and on Jan. 6, 2021, has begun showing testimony and presenting evidence from their year-long examination of the attack on our country.
As we pull back the curtain on that fateful day, Americans now turn to our television screens for answers as we are given a primetime glimpse into the testimonies and proceedings of one of the most speculated upon investigations of its kind.
More than 840 people have been charged following the criminal conspiracy to undermine the will of the people. But there have been no charges yet filed against former President Donald Trump or other high-ranking participants.
We hope the hearings uncover what really happened leading up to and during the Jan. 6 riot. We believe that participants at every level of the criminal conspiracy should be held responsible and face repercussions.

The Race for Texas Democratic Party Chair

Current state party leader Gilberto Hinojosa faces challengers Kim Olson, the former candidate for agriculture commissioner and Congress, and Carroll G. Robinson, chair of the Texas Coalition of Black Democrats.
All are vying to lead the Texas Democratic Party as we head to the November election. Voting takes place at the Texas Democratic Convention, which will be held July 14-16 in Dallas.
