Supreme Court Shows its Stripes in Rulings on Roe, Guns, School Prayer and EPA Powers

"The U.S. Supreme Court's blockbuster rulings on successive days that eliminated the right to abortion nationwide and widened the rights of gun owners illustrate how its expanded conservative majority is willing to boldly assert its power.
“...The increasingly unrestrained court has become ever more willing to take up and decisively rule on contentious issues since the 2020 addition of former President Donald Trump's third appointee, Amy Coney Barrett, gave the nation's top judicial body a 6-3 conservative majority.”

Harris County Judge Temporarily Protects Some Abortion Rights in Texas
![]() |
Harris County Judge Christine Weems placed a temporary restraining order on a 1920’s abortion ban that Republicans claim is still legitimate law. Although the order will likely only last until the July 12 (the date of the next hearing), this makes it possible for some of those in desparate need of abortion care to receive treatment, even if only for a limited time. Judge Weems’ decision is a massive win for reproductive rights throughout Texas and we are so thankful for the work she does. |
