In response to the announcement, Harris County Democratic Party Chair Odus Evbagharu made the following statement:

“This process is absolutely absurd and designed by Republicans to further disenfranchise voters — especially Black and brown voters who we know are more likely to live in populous counties.

Updates for Precinct Chairs

Precinct Chairs Updates

Filing Dates: Because redistricting dates are in flux, HCDP strongly encourages Precinct Chairs to wait to file for the 2022 Primary Election until after the conclusion of precinct renumbering and redrawing. HCDP.

Any Precinct Chair applications received during the first filing period, which began Sept. 14, will need to be re-reviewed after redistricting is completed. Therefore, it makes sense to waiting until the second filing period.

HCDP will inform you when the second filing period begins.

Resolutions Meeting: The next meeting of the HCDP Resolutions Committee will be Sept. 30 at 6:30 PM via Zoom. The Resolutions Committee is responsible for drafting and reviewing all resolutions. It recommends resolutions for inclusion in the agenda to the Steering Committee, and then also introduces these resolutions during the CEC meeting (if approved for inclusion in the agenda by the Steering Committee).
