Texas Secretary of State to Audit 2020 Election Results in State’s Largest Counties
‘The Democratic Process That Defines Us as a Nation is Under Threat,’ Says HCDP Chair
The Texas Secretary of State on Thursday announced it will conduct a forensic audit of 2020 election results in four of the state’s largest counties: Collin, Dallas, Harris and Tarrant.
In response to the announcement, Harris County Democratic Party Chair Odus Evbagharu made the following statement:
“This process is absolutely absurd and designed by Republicans to further disenfranchise voters — especially Black and brown voters who we know are more likely to live in populous counties.

Headlines: Redistricting Underway in 3rd Special Session
In the state’s third special legislative session — which began this week — lawmakers are tackling redistricting, redrawing the lines that create our voting districts.
These maps will ultimately determine who represents us in Congress, the state legislature and other state and local offices.
Be Part of the National Voter Registration Day ‘Week of Action’
There are tons of ways to take action during the #WhenWeAllVote National Voter Registration Day “Week of Action” (Sept. 25 - Oct. 3).
“We look at our work as like changing the culture around voting, increasing voter participation, closing the race and age voting gap, and, you know, now, fighting against rapid voter suppression across the country,” says When We All Vote’s National Organizing Director Amanda Hollowell.
COVID Update: FDA Authorizes Pfizer Booster Dose for 65 Plus, Others at High Risk
The Food and Drug Administration on Wednesday authorized a booster dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID vaccine for people 65 and older and others at high risk of illness.
“The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and its advisers still must recommend how the extra shots will be used.”

Updates for Precinct Chairs
Filing Dates: Because redistricting dates are in flux, HCDP strongly encourages Precinct Chairs to wait to file for the 2022 Primary Election until after the conclusion of precinct renumbering and redrawing. HCDP.
Any Precinct Chair applications received during the first filing period, which began Sept. 14, will need to be re-reviewed after redistricting is completed. Therefore, it makes sense to waiting until the second filing period.
HCDP will inform you when the second filing period begins.
Resolutions Meeting: The next meeting of the HCDP Resolutions Committee will be Sept. 30 at 6:30 PM via Zoom. The Resolutions Committee is responsible for drafting and reviewing all resolutions. It recommends resolutions for inclusion in the agenda to the Steering Committee, and then also introduces these resolutions during the CEC meeting (if approved for inclusion in the agenda by the Steering Committee).
