In the News: HCDP Chair Odus Evbagharu on the Nation’s Infrastructure
“We have an opportunity right now to make bold investments in our country’s infrastructure, including our power grid. The Senate passed the bipartisan infrastructure bill. The House must too.
And both the House & Senate must pass a budget plan furthering support for these urgent needs,” says HCDP Chair Odus Evbagharu in the Texas Signal.
‘Clear Majority of Americans Opposes Key Provisions’ of New Texas Abortion Law
A recent NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll finds that “almost 6-in-10 Americans oppose limiting abortions up to when cardiac activity is detected, at about six to eight weeks in a typical pregnancy….
That includes 59% of Republicans, 61% of Democrats and 53% of independents.”
Save the Date: Empowerment, Engagement Halloween Fair Set for Oct. 30

Join HCDP — along with the Hon. Rosalind Caesar, Community Advocate Sima Ladjevardian, Activist John Humphries and Pastor Rev. Gerald Shanks — for an Empowerment & Engagement Halloween Fair on October 30 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Mary Olive Missionary Baptist Church, 2804 McGowen St., Houston, TX 77004.
Come out and meet local judges and candidates, listen to great music and sample some fabulous, free food! There will be train rides for kids. Health information and COVID-19 resources will be available.
Thousands in Houston March to Support Safe Access to Abortion

HCDP joined thousands in Houston — & across the nation — on Oct. 2 to protest the new TX abortion law. We believe in the human right to access safe, legal abortion & will continue to fight against the Republican lawmakers who put in place restrictive laws that violate human rights.
