FEMA:

Federal emergency aid is available to Texans to supplement state and local recovery efforts in areas affected by the severe winter storm. If you have insurance, you should file a claim with your insurance company immediately when you apply for FEMA assistance. Filing a claim with your insurance company as soon as possible will help to prevent delays in receiving FEMA assistance. FEMA cannot aid with losses already covered by insurance. If your insurance does not cover all your losses or is delayed, you may be eligible for FEMA assistance regarding your unmet needs.

Assistance can include grants for temporary housing and home repairs, low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses, and other programs to help individuals and business owners recover from the effects of the disaster. Be sure to thoroughly document any damage to your home through photos and videos and keep copies of all repair receipts. You may begin applying for assistance by registering online at DisasterAssistance.gov or by calling 1-800-621-3362 or 1-800-462-7585.

HOUSTON-HARRIS COUNTY WINTER STORM RELIEF FUND:

Mayor Turner and Judge Hidalgo have established the Houston-Harris County Winter Storm Relief Fund to help our region’s most vulnerable neighbors during this critical time of need. Due to the immense need in and around Houston, the fund will focus on the unmet needs of families who require additional help to recover, supporting nonprofits who can help with plumbing and home repairs, temporary housing, and other basic needs relief. This fund is a collaboration between the City of Houston, Harris County, the Greater Houston Community Foundation, and the United Way. More information on requesting assistance may be found at greaterhoustonrecovery.org. If you're interested in donating, please click here.

The city will continue to update houstonemergency.org with additional recovery resources as they become available.
