Oct. 5 Deadline for Texas Voter Registration Near
HCDP Chair Encourages Everyone to ‘Take the Opportunity to Make Your Voice Heard’
HOUSTON – Monday is the deadline to register to vote in Texas for the Harris County, state and national elections in November. Voter registration applications must be postmarked or delivered in person by Oct. 5.
“I encourage anyone who hasn’t yet registered to do it immediately; take the opportunity to make your voice heard,” said Lillie Schechter, Harris County Democratic Party Chair.
“The outcome of this election will have a long-lasting impact on our lives – not only at the national level, but at the state and local levels as well.”
Voter registration applications can be downloaded from the County Tax Assessor-Collector’s Website. Individuals also can use this site to check their voter registration status.
“Even if you think you are registered, you should double check,” Schechter said. “It only takes a minute, and you can never be too careful.”
There are also a number of voter registration events scheduled. You can find those at TexasRegistrationMap.com.
Anyone who has moved within Harris County and needs to update their address, should visit the Texas Office of the Secretary of State: Voter Name and Address Change webpage .
“We’re supporting over 100 Democrats on the ballot for Harris County this year,” Schechter said. “With your help, we can make huge gains in the State Legislature and in dozens of key local races.”
“For the positive change needed at the national, state and local levels, Democrats must come out and vote for every candidate on the ballot with a Democrat next to their name,” she said. “In order to vote in this election, you must be registered by Oct. 5.”
